Teaser time: Horizontalpitch, a blogzine about eurorack modular synths and music

Just in time for Musikmesse 2015 I’m proud to vaguely tease you with the imminent annoucement of “the definitive blog” for everything eurorack-modular related.
Ok I don’t know it will be the definitive one, but you should check it out anyway!
Stay tuned.

Nice! Can´t wait

Looks a bit like GearPorn™ Hamilton Style ;) gonna love it!

It promises to be an aphaeretic portmanteau full of homonyms.

Yes you’ll get tons of homonyms and yes we’ll also do retro-style milky-filter softcore-gear-erotica for the fait at heart. Well… yeah we’ll have to change the photo, but for now that’s what we’ve got

Anyway… here’s some more info.
Horizontalpitch wants to be a magazine-style blog about euro modular gear and music made with such instruments (that was already obvious I know).

We don’t want to focus on news, rumors, manufactuer-x-has-released/announced/teased-that-module-style posts. What we want to do is talk about modulars more in-depth, focusing on the bigger picture, on trends and developments. We also want to keep in mind that modulars are – or at least should be – musical instruments, so we want to get away from the pure technophile discussion to something more music oriented.
But hey… we are all weak, so there will be plenty of gear talk and gear porn as well. Don’t worry, but we don’t want to do something that others already do (and sometimes do well).

Now… who’s gonna write on HP? The team is made up of me (of course) Konstantinos aka ParanormalPatroler and Marco, a friend of mine from Italy (who is known as Soundifferent on Muffs and makes music as Call me eS)

We should have all the pieces in place soon and officially launch the blog!

@rumpelfilter It sounds promising and exciting

This is really nice. I’ve been searching for a web platform focused on (quality) modular music but i could really find any. There is tons of patchdemo’s and noodles but not so much focussed on actually recorded ‘finished’ modular music. So i hope this will be my place to go for that :).

@shiftr: actually it’s really hard to find finished pieces… it’s really tough, but there’s good stuff out there and I’m on the lookout.
If you find anything that you want to share, send it over btw!

Well i was a the World Minimal Festival in Amsterdam this weekend and Luke Abbott and James Holden both did a modular live set as a tribute to Terry Riley.

Maybe you can find some footage from it. Abbott’s piece was really great!

Finish work is hard to come by because we all get distracted by whatever sequence of bleeps is coming out of the modular at any given time! We’re also spending too much time on Muffs and modulargrid. Joking, of course.

Its probably better for a modular musicians career to have a popular youtube demo channel versus a completed album

And…we’re ready!

Looks great. Excellent stuff.

Works nicely via RSS too (so many blogs just have a summary via RSS these days).

Wow - looks fantastic!

thanks a lot people!

I liked the RSS

And now that the Roland modules are out there needs to be a follow-up for that article.
