Shruthi XT analog volume knob maxes out too early

I wired the volume pot on my Shruthi XT to be analog. Signal is clean and volume adjusts in the correct direction, but seems to go from zero to maximum within the first quarter turn or less. Is this normal? Any way to even out the adjustment?

I remember seeing a thread about this but can’t find it anymore.

You need a Logarithmic (A Type) Pot, you have installed a Linear (B Type) one….

Oops, I have much to learn. The kit only comes with Type B pots, right? The build instructions say all pots are the same…is there a reason the R12 pot is labeled differently than the others on the PCB?

Where can I source a matching logarithmic pot? Thanks!

The kit comes with type B pots because I really, really recommend the pot to be wired in “digital” volume control mode.

If you want something for volume control, try Mouser 688-RK09D113F25C0A

Do you recommend digital because of potential wiring issues alone? Won’t analog perform better with the VCA at low levels?

Unfortunately, Mouser is scheduled to be out of 688-RK09D113F25C0A pots for quite a while (I actually called them about these yesterday while sourcing for Ambika). Can you recommend a good alternative, or should I just wait?

Yes.

Analog will perform better - unless your wiring catches noise.
