I’m confused about the orientation option. I don’t have one of the kit ones to look at here. Should I be going for N, S or W orientation? Also, the shafts are 6mm, right?
i’ve just looked at those that had come with the Shruti-1, but i have two types of knobs here, all in possible number.
so, i’m not sure whether they had the D type shaft at all.
the ones i THINK they could be it are round type, that look like the serrated ones, but just at 3 spots on the inside, the rest is round.
i guess they’re more universal.
but sorry i’m not sure at all anymore.
check the digital bom. go to farnell and look for the part nbr. they have a datasheet. there, for the number it says T18 shaft, that’s not D. iT’s what i tried to describe.
well, no surprise, i’ve talked nonsense.
both farnell and mouser datasheet for the given part number say 6mm D shaft, white.
here’s the mouser datasheet:
you can see on the drawing that the flat side of the D is pointing in the same direction as the pointer on top (right side of the sheet).
at least it seems so to me.
don’t know though if that’s considered north or whatever
and i’m still confused even more- the only white ones with D shaft I can find here in my box have the flat side of the D in the opposite direction.
but i can’t tell if they are the one sthat came with the Shruti-1 (that’s a year ago), while the parts numbers are identical.
maybe a contemporary kit builder can give better info.
I think I’ll just wait until I get home and check the ones from the kit. I’m planning to get a blue-marker and red-marker set to go with the blue and red cases I’m hoping to buy.
