Peaks "initial phase" in tap mode

Could somebody please explain how the “initial phase” when in tap mode works? (Bottom knob)

ie: what difference would I expect when the “initial phase” knob is full ccw vs 12 o’clock vs full cw?

Are there different outcomes when the clock input is repeating vs clock input occasionally changing or evolving?

Thanks in advance for any help. I don’t have a scope and have never been able to work out what’s going on here.

Let’s take the example of a triangle LFO. In all cases, the LFO will be in sync with the clock, but depending on the position of the knob, a clock tick will coincide with the lowest point of the triangle, or the mid level point (with ascending slope), or the peak, or the mid level point (with descending slope). This is effectively phase-shifting the whole waveform.
