Grids Strange Behaviour

I bought a used Grids today but it doesn’t seem to be working properly. Example:

Power on with nothing plugged in
Hold tap button until is stays on and the rhythm stops
Turn Map X knob all the way to the right and then back to the left
Observed: 1st 2 LEDs are flashing and the 3rd stays on
Expected: either all 3 on or all 3 off

Also, the rhythms sound really bad, and are nothing like what I hear on YouTube, and the kick pattern barely changes as I adjust E1, Map X and Map Y.

Is this indeed malfunctioning? And how do I fix it?

I thought I should rule out clock settings, but the clock settings don’t seem to work properly either:
Repro:
Power on with nothing plugged in
Hold tap button until is stays on and the rhythm stops
Turn E1 knob all the way to the right and then back to the left
Observed: As soon as I start turning E1 the 3rd LED lights up and stays on
Expected: either all 3 on or all 3 off
