General Question About Potentiometers

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if it is normal for the plastic “attenuator” potentiometers to loose their physical turn resistance over time/use. A few of mine seem to have sections that glide or feel loose. (I hope this makes sense).

Yes, it happens.

If you’re handy with a soldering iron, Thonk sells replacements. Tall Trimmer 9mm Pots – Thonk – DIY Synthesizer Kits & Components

You’ll also need a solder sucker.

Thanks Grant,

I am good with soldering/de-soldering, but I think I will just leave them as @pichenettes says it normally happens. I don’t think it effects the sound, it just feels weird.

Oh, I wasn’t aware that they would wear that easy.
Aren’t those pots assembled with some sort of lubricant?
If not, wouldn’t it be smart to spray a bit of Kontakt 61 ourselves?
