I’ve just listened to the new mutable sound (probably) and there are several moments when I hear kind of “feedback oscillator” sound which is known from Roland JP-8000 and SH-201…
It’s only a sawtooth wave in a delay…
As far as i understand is KArplus-Strong nothing more than a bit of Noise in a delay?
Noise in a tuned delay with a low-pass filter. The low-pass filter is essential as it gives a shape and a decay to the sound.
Im tempted to grab a PT2399, some caps and a Breadboard…
not sure the pt2399 will be very adapted to this task, it cannot perform very small delay times. A mn3207 would be more accurate for this I think.
edit : if I understand well, the analog equivalent to the karplus strong thing is a noise source, then a comb filter and a LP filter?
In your soundcloud sample, is it a digital delay that you’re using?
> the analog equivalent to the karplus strong thing is a noise source, then a comb filter and a LP filter
The noise source is on just for the exact duration of 1 delay tap; and the LP filter is in the feedback loop of the comb filter.
This sample is digital.
