I am currently doing a french translation of Anushri manual. It is not easy and Olivier is crazy : About the shape “Smooth random process” in “LFO” section, how I’m going to translate : “The higher the rate, the higher the digital manic pixie dream cat tweaks the knobs.”
And it’s not the only strange sentence …!

I am dying to know the idiomatic French translation of “Are sheep and wavetable oscillators an Agambenian form-of-life, caught, like the benedictine monk, in the cyclicity engendered by the rule?” (from the Sheep manual)
I am a German developer and it is not easy to write a technical manual in another language.I think there are translation errors
Even writing a tech manual in your own language is not easy… But digital manic pixie dream cats do not come from translation errors. They come from very original, creative, and exquisitely insane minds.
Yes i’m sure that is not an translation error
Maybe i replaced the translation by an image : ( and some cat and knobs ) !
And “Are sheep and wavetable oscillators an Agambenian form-of-life, caught, like the benedictine monk, in the cyclicity engendered by the rule?” is fun too
Fantastic! I have built Anushri as a gift for my French neighbour, who is an amateur musician, to say thanks for the help he has given me. It would be wonderful to have a manual in his own language for this little beauty of a synth.
Still in progress
I am almost reached at “Drum synth and generative drum machine” chapter : this is a big and complex chapter
I will not translate “Advanced topics”.
9 month later … Finish !
I hope I have not made too many mistakes
Feel free to comment if anything needs to be changed.
Merci; ça a l’air bien, je vais lire…
Je n’ai pas détecté d’erreurs pour l’instant… I will, maybe find a answer in “Advanced topics” to a question i ask for : is it possible to adjust the drum machine volume / synth volume…?
If somebody have a solution, i’m interrested! (maybe by cc?).
So, i just see the possibility to take the drum output… for make a altenative mix. it’s a good solution.
@Lucchio you finally translate the advanced topics i’ve seen! thx a lot;
for ‘the digital manic pixie dream cat’ who tweak the (virtual lfo) knobs, so this is not these animals : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvOWADwCDNg i think
but a kind of poetic and a bit crazy mathematical function… for sure! Olivier is a celtic poet ! and is bob cat is dreaming a lot in a pixie way, and others;
In fact : it’s a magic and quit a bit crazy function made to help the ‘stupid’ synth men we could be?
Your parallel with the MPDGirl stock caracter in films senarii industry is good : https://translate.google.fr/translate?sl=en&tl=fr&js=y&prev=_t&hl=fr&ie=UTF-8&u=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FManic_Pixie_Dream_Girl&edit-text=&act=url
The MPDC (manic pixie dream cat) is now in function. Sur cette position de LFO shape, plus on augmente le LFO rate et plus le MPDC rentre dans la danse. Bref…
For both (@BennelongBicyclist too)
Form(s) of life (and Agamben worked on this notion) is the key :

Electronic intelligences, and their likely poetic dreams is the mater. Remember of the Philp K Dick novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep” …
But Marvin the Paranoid Android, not…:
“Now the world has gone to bed
Darkness won’t engulf my head
I can see by infra-red
How I hate the night”
"Now I lay me down to sleep
Try to count electric sheep
Sweet dream wishes you can keep
How I hate the night "
