There wasn’t a nub missing on the chip but there is an A and a dot next to the chip date.

You should get a socket for it, Mine was just 8 Cents…
On the funny side i put my CNY17-1 the wrong orientation into the socket as i powered up this little beast yesterday evening for the first time… maybe better don`t listen to me 
At least it was in a socket.
In my haste, I ended up going without the socket. It all worked out - no worries - success!
