Ambika power question

I have several power adapters 220v to 9v or 12v.
If I use a 12v, the 7805 gets very hot which I think is normal.
If I use a 9v, several scenarios are possible:
In all cases, the 5v is ok and the motherboard work properly.
In some cases the power and +8 v-8s are not correct and there is no sound output from the voice cards.
In some cases, there is sound but with a high distortion.
With a 9v power supply, and given the voltage drop due to the diodes D1 and D2, are not we in operating limit of 7808 and 7908?
One question, What is the right solution to powered properly an Ambika?

You need an AC-AC adapter, not a AC-DC adapter, which is what it sounds like you have…

Straight from the manual:
“11: AC power jack. Use a 9V AC, 1A power source. Higher voltage will cause more heating of the voltage regulators and shorten the lifespan of the module.”

You need 9V AC 1A.

9V Rectified gives 12V, even with the remaining ripple we’re still above the 10V required by the 7908 and 7808. But if you draw too much current, the ripple falls below 10V and you start hearing it!
