Advise request for modular power supply

Do you think most commercial cases (eg. the Doepfer ones) have this type of grounding to earth? Doesn’t seem to me…
Anyway, the benefit of doing so is that in case of 220v getting into the wrong part of the circuit they would be diverted to protective earth, instead of through your body, isn’t it? Which seems like a desirable thing :slight_smile:

It’s mainly to reduce hum and noise, I think. At the very least, it is important for separate racks to have their DC grounds connected together, so that there is a common voltage reference point, since we’re using voltage control. No, it doesn’t seem like may case or eurorack PSU manufacturers do what Hinton recommends.

Earthing doesn’t improve safety if the mains voltage is flowing through you to earth…

Well theoretically current always takes the fastest and shortest way to earth, so if there’s some low resistance wires offering a high-speed highway to the electrons, less current should take the route through your body, which has a much higher resistance.
